Do Your Own Thing w/Instruction2

Date: June 9th, 2021 - August 4th, 2021

Time: 3:30 PM- 5:30 PM

Duration: 8-Week

No class on June 30.

This class is not for beginners but will address the many issues that plague all artists. Since each student is working from their own abilities with their own materials, and their own reference material, the class enjoys a vitality that comes with sharing their achievements and a joint learning experience from mistakes. 

A still life is different for each class, always encouragingly working from life, and the challenges still life brings. 

Instructor addresses: 

         Basics sketches that need a second look 

  • How to approach a subject, depending on the medium  

  • Better ways to handle the medium the student brings 

  • Compositional errors  

  • Understanding the importance of value differences  

  • Help with color mixing, and application of cool and warm colors. 

  • Sometimes a demo of a particular skill 

Recognizing a student’s strengths, encouraging that growth, and sometimes challenging a student to step out of their comfort zone with new approaches or mediums.

THIS IS A ONE DAY EVENT
Learn to make your own bright and happy plant hangers in this beginner macrame class! No prior experience is needed. In this Make and Take, instructor Judy Lepore will lead as you learn:

● How to begin a macrame piece, including an overview of necessary materials.
● How to work several different macrame knots.
● How to incorporate a wooden ring and wooden beads.
● Leave with a finished plant hanger, and the know-how to design and create more pieces on your own.
Class fee includes instruction and all the necessary supplies and materials, including cotton cord, a wooden ring,
and oversized wooden beads. No prior experience necessary - beginners welcome! (Note: does not include plant or
pot: you can add any pot you like after class -- approximately 6-8" across will fit best. It's not necessary to bring yourpot to class, but you can if you like!)

Learn the basic techniques for drawing a portrait in black and white.  Learn proportions, sighting techniques, light and shadow, and how to capture the gesture, character and likeness of a person.  Students choose subjects for the portraits and bring their own references.  Teacher will provide guidance on selection of references. Beginner/Intermediate.  Students will learn how to create beautiful, loose, expressive seascapes in acrylics.  Students may bring their own reference photos or work completely from their imagination.  Ideas for creative use of references will be discussed and practiced. Students will work on preliminary sketches, plan layout, value composition, and learn how to make creative color and texture choices to paint a seascape in their own unique style. (live in person with option to join the class remotely)

Seascapes in Pastel

New Jersey has some of the most beautiful scenery around and almost all of it includes water! During this 6 Week Class, learn how to paint the ocean water and waves with pastel and capture the motion and mood. These classes will focus on the anatomy of a wave included the crash, splash and barrel along with painting calm waters and wet and dry sand. Work from your own favorite photo references or follow along with the instructor. All levels welcome.
