BEGINNER ACRYLICS - Chris Hrycenko

The instructor will demonstrate how to use acrylic paint techniques to create paintings inspired by the theater . All of the paintings were previously done for theatrical productions at Donovan Catholic High School. The instructor will bring in printouts of the images that each painting will be based on.

Pastels - Fall *

Learn how to paint the beautiful South Jersey Landscape in pastel.  This 6 week course will cover the many elements of our unique land: maarsh, waterways and colorful skies.  Learn about the different types of pastels and papers/surfaces you can use.  Explore a variety of underpainting techniques to breathe life into your paitings.  Students will work from their own favorite photographs or follow along with Renee.  All levels welcome. Drawing - Fall Beginner

Overcome the fear of being able to draw!  Students will learn the basic elements and principles of design through the study of objects and places found in nature.  This fall, students will be introduced to Bargue plates, a classical method for teaching portrait and figurative drawing, that has experienced renewed interest in top art schools throughout the world!  Learn how to master black and white media, how to draw what you see, and how to create the realistic visual effects that will invite the viewer to reach into your drawing and pick them out!  No prior experience necessary.  Bring your own sketchbook.  The instructor will supply all other materials.

This class is for any level artist who wants to benefit from an instructor's feedback with discussions about composition, values, medium, perspective and color.  Bring your own art supplies and an idea, but you may want to explore different media.  Some photo references will be availbalae, but a still life can create specific challenges.

Explore self-expression through drawing, with the figure as your muse.  Through observational and expressive figure drawing, students from any skill level, beginning to advanced, will learn the step by step approach to figure drawing.  The goal is to develop the ability to draw the figure with skill and imagination.  Upon completion of this class, students will create quick gesture drawings as well as finished pieces of artwork to take home with them. WOW!  Multi Media....We will be using anything and everything to create our visual art, paper, wood, found objects, nothing is off limits.  Bring to first class:  watercolor paper, canvas or wood panel to use as your base, along with papers, paints, pastels, brushes, Mod Podge, Gesso.  Projects will be discussed during first class.

Papermaking - Fall

Discover the joy & possibilities of making beautiful  works of art with paper that you created!  You will have the opportunity to do basic sheet formation, and explore the various processes of combining natural materials, collage, stitching, printmaking, pulp painting and more to your art.  With emphasis on customization and your own artistic inquiries, you will leave this class with knowledge of how to create paper from start to finish, along with a stack of paper that can be used for other projects.  Get ready to stretch your artistic and technical skills and create unusual, beautiful works of art.  No experience necessary.
