Gallery 1 & 2 – OCAG Drawing Group “From the Model”
The Guild can boast more than fifty years of offering workshops in life drawing and portraiture. These sessions are consistently well-run and its participants come to know and respect the models, who come from every walk of life, from actors to English teachers, philosophy majors to policemen.  Here is an opportunity to foster basic skills outside of a city and over the years it has drawn artists from a wide area. Results are some tender, sensitive drawings in pencil, watercolor and charcoal, bold, confident paintings, and lively rapid sketches.

Pop-Up Gallery – Christopher McKinnon “Mini Teapots”

Born, 1952, Newark, NJ Raised in Brick Township and attended township schools. Earliest influences were Mr. Dan Gleason , HS Art teacher. and Ted Goerschner,  at the time a relatively unknown artist who later gained a national following upon completion of a two year program at Ocean County College. I transferred to the University of Memphis and completed a rigorous five-year BFA program in Art Education. 1976 marked the beginning of my quest for career employment in a school system. In the interim, I was employed as an arts and crafts instructor for the then fledgling Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. Still looking to teach I had the opportunity to take a planned short, by well paying, position as a commercial artist for the Department of Defense at Fort Monmouth NJ. While there, and still with a desire to teach, I enrolled in the graduate MA Arts Education program at Kean University while working full time.

This was to be the key to open the door to my career goal. Unfortunately, while job openings still existed, I was unable to secure a teaching position. Finally in my 42nd year of looking I was, to my surprise, hired as a part time Art Therapist at a well respected private school in the Princeton NJ area. Three years there gave me a taste of what I had missed all those prior years. As small consolation I am currently teaching wheel throwing at a first-rate ceramic shop in Mercer County. and enjoying every moment of it.
For the past 45 years I have been diligently pursuing my own artistic goals with positive results. I have won awards and have been accepted into many well-known shows / galleries in the tri-state area. Among them are the Salmagundi Club, NYC, The Philadelphia Sketch club, Ellarslie, The Trenton State Museum, The Monmouth Museum, City Without Walls Gallery in Newark, and The Guild of Creative Arts, Shrewsbury.
