Gallery 1 Luis Rivera
My name is Luis Rivera, a multicultural artist from New Jersey. I have a degree in Graphic Design which helps add imagination to my work. I have enjoyed working in many mediums for more than 25 years.
I designed and illustrated a book cover and worked on multiple magazines. One project I am very proud of is the 2014 Rain Barrel Art Project by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium to show the public about environmental benefits of harvesting rain water. Another one of my accomplished projects is a painting of a patient rising from his wheelchair looking out into the future with hope to recover from his illness. This painting was made to encourage patients at Encompass Health Rehabilitation in Toms River NJ to see their future in reaching their maximum goal.
One medium I greatly enjoy is pen and ink. This style shows the negative and positive space working in black and white; this is an ultimate compositional challenge. Sometimes color is not necessary to appreciate the real power of art.
Previous projects local and worldwide include: military cartoon strips and posters displayed in Germany, Korea and other countries abroad. I have also participated in local exhibits at the Lacey and Manchester Libraries, Monmouth County Mall, and multiple galleries in Long Beach Island.
