Mastering Skies and Reflections in Pastel-with Michael Story

Master your landscape pastel painting and join South Carolina artist Michael Story for this 2-day workshop as we use the sky and water as a dramatic design element in our painting's composition. The workshop begins with an I-Pad step-by-step presentation showing a progression of Michael's painting techniques from start to finish.

Before beginning your pastel work, Michael will discuss composition, center of interest, and the pros and cons of using photo references. A drawing in charcoal is recommended prior to applying a base wash of color. By working dark to light and employing a variety of color builds and blending techniques, Michael will walk you through the subtle layering process that makes pastel painting uniquely different than working in any other medium.
