Studio – Ken Weiner “Metamorphosis”

This month the Ocean County Artists Guild will be hosting a retrospective exhibition featuring the art of Kenneth Weiner. This exhibit, whose theme is Metamorphosis, will be on display for the month of June, and will highlight works in silverpoint, graphite, pen and ink, brush and ink, and watercolors. The public is invited to a reception held June 2nd, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

An Honors graduate from Montclair State University, Weiner has spent a lifetime pursuing his artistic visions through the use of various mediums. Known for his masterful Silverpoint drawings, he also works in watercolor, pen and ink, brush and ink, and graphite. Deftly combining elements of realism and abstraction, Weiner embraces the visual world with striking imagery inspired by both real life and his imagination. He has studied art from around the world and throughout history, being especially inspired by Chinese landscape painting and art of the Northern Renaissance. Weiner’s associations have included: West Essex Artist’s Association, Livingston Arts Association, Arts Council of Livingston, Studio Montclair, and The Salmagundi Club in New York City. His Jersey Shore associations include: The Ocean County Artists Guild, The Guild of Creative Arts in Shrewsbury, and the Art Alliance of Monmouth County. His work has been highly awarded and can be found in numerous private collections.

Carlson’s Corner in Manasquan NJ

Born and raised in New Jersey, I have been blessed with a loving family, including a wonderful daughter, Debbie (my biggest fan) and a marriage to my high school sweetheart, Larry, that flourished for nearly 34 years. My journey as an artist restarted in Pennsylvania, where I took my first watercolor class in 2005 at the Academy of Lifelong Learning in Wilmington from Cynthia Kaufmann. This marked the start of a largely self-taught expedition into the world of watercolors—a medium that has since become my passion.

Over the years, I have honed my skills by taking classes from esteemed artists such as Ted Nuttal, Janet Rogers, and Roberta Carter Clark. Their guidance and teaching helped me improve my skills, but the learning never stopped.

As a watercolor artist, my subject of choice is the figure. Family photos and my experiences have inspired most of my paintings. I try to capture a memory or moment that is special to me. My art reflects my life’s experiences, and the places & people I have met along the way.
