OCAG Artists Shine at the Ocean County Senior Art Show
We are proud to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our members who placed and won prizes at the Ocean County Senior Art Show. This year’s show highlighted the talent, range, and creativity of artists throughout the county, and OCAG was beautifully represented across multiple categories. Congratulations to Michelle Dillon, who won First Place in the Professional Mixed-Media category for her deconstructed book collage. Michelle’s imaginative piece was created using repurposed materials, including books and found objects that may otherwise have been thrown away. Even the frame was thrifted. The work incorporates original library labels and stamps, embroidery, collage elements, and a photo of shoes believed to have been worn by Betsy Ross.
We are also thrilled to congratulate the following OCAG members on their awards:
- Christine Dirschauer Matteo — First Place, Nonprofessional Watercolor
- Diane Eleneski — First Place, Pastels
- Audrey Stanick — First Place, Sculpture/Professional
- Jo Guscott — First Place, Professional Print
- Clara Sue Karrais Beym — Third Place, Professional Multimedia
- Francine Van Ostrand — Honorable Mention for The Natural, a mixed-media painting
“Congrats to all the OCAG members! I feel incredibly fortunate to be around so many creative people. You make me a better artist,” said OCAG President Cagney Archdeacon. “And to all those that submitted pieces, whether you’re an OCAG member or not, congrats to you! Keep creating and putting your art out there in the world!”
