Conni Freestone is a visual philosopher examining presence, perception, and the human desire to be seen. Working across themes of identity, place, and memory, she approaches each image as both document and inquiry, often incorporating self-portraiture to assert and complicate her presence within the frame.
Her photographs engage the visual language of American life, returning to cars, music, roadside environments, and the transient spaces that shape everyday experience. Photographing across the United States, Europe, and Cuba, she is drawn to moments on the edge of change, where time, culture, and place quietly shift.
Freestone’s images engage nostalgia and its contradictions, attempting to preserve what is slipping away while acknowledging the limits of that gesture.
