Studio – Members Choice Theme – “Catch a Wave”
Gallery 1 – Lorraine Dey (Acrylics & Watercolor)
Gallery 2 – Alexandra Zubritsky (Acrylics)
Experimenting with fluid media, whimsical images and ocean-based themes, Alexandra Zubritzky, a Toms River based artist, is looking forward to her first solo exhibit.
As a child watching her father painting in his studio Alexandra knew she wanted art to be her vocation in life early on. After graduating the School of Visual Arts in NYC she secured a graphic Arts Supervisory position with the Ocean County Library. Over thirty years of service she designed stage scenes, marketing materials, posters and billboards as well as managing a large department. Alexandra has won awards both in the Graphic Arts industry and in juried art exhibits throughout the years.
Since retirement she has pursued her personal artistic endeavors, and, living close to the sea she finds much inspiration, beauty and magic on the coast. Worked primarily in acrylics, “Impressions from the Sea” creates an intersection between realism and aquatic fantasy.
Pop-up – Terry Konn – Ceramics
Terry Marie is a multimedia artist. She paints in watercolor, acrylic and oil, and enjoys several other artistic mediums, including ceramics, sculpture, paper sculpture, charcoal, and stained glass. Since she was a child, Terry Marie has always enjoyed the creative process. She began her education at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA. In the late 1970s, her work as a young artist was exhibited in small galleries outside of San Francisco. She left school and returned to New Jersey, because of family obligations. For economic reasons, she switched her academic focus to healthcare. She has spent the last 40 years as a healthcare professional and professor. Art has always provided stress relief and pure enjoyment for her. She tries to capture moments in time that reflect the beauty of life and tell stories of humanity in her pieces.
The show Multimedia Interpretations by artist Terry Marie consists of ceramic, paper and wire sculptures that provoke whimsical and colorful impressions of the real and imaginary creatures and the world around us. Painted ceramic tiles create a beautiful vision of underwater life. It allows us to be playful and joyous with what we imagine as a harmonious life to be surrounded by the wavering tides. Other whimsical pieces provoke memories of our child-like imaginations and the spirit of fun. With the incorporation of twigs, flowers, sand and seeds, paper sculpture allows our imagination to use nature to create magical impressions of mother nature. Her wire sculptures provide another dimension to the interpretation of our imagination. The show will lighten your heart with whimsy and joy
