Vanitas Still Life by Pieter Claesz

Instructor: Kim Cesaretti, (remote, acrylic-adult, oil)

A fun twist on the study of the human skull. Learn human anatomy and the underlying bone structure of the human head while you create a fun Day of the Dead inspired still life painting.
Students focused on realism will learn composition and arrangement and lighting of the subject(s), how to tone the canvas, sketch the gesture, lay in a loose grisaille, add values (light & shadow), color mixing, paint application, brush techniques, along with glazing, finishing and varnishing the painting.
Students who prefer to explore the theme in an alternate or more expressive way will be supported and guided to create aesthetically pleasing paintings in their own voice and style.
